Coach Dunte’s Story

Years ago, I was a strong high school hurdler. I missed my entire senior season because of a vehicle wreck. I “retired” from track, thinking I would never be fast or competitive again. College was a whirlwind of sports and activities alongside an education in mechanical engineering.

Career paths sometimes wander. As an entrepreneurial person, solving mechanical problems from a desk did not fit my personality. I taught high school mathematics. I started personal training and directed a group fitness program. Soon after, I was back to business-building. What started in 2011 as The Fit Life Personal Training has evolved. Now I serve ultimate players who want to run fast, jump high, and have long, healthy careers.

I am a self-taught fitness professional, experienced in strength training, developing speed, and overcoming injuries. With an engineer’s mind and a teacher’s passion, I learn what my clients need me to know in order to make them better.

My sports career also wandered, from team sports to endurance to lifting and finally back to track & field. I’m three years into racing again, healthy and fast, even as a business-owner, husband, and father of three. Busy schedules and injuries are no reason to retire from sport. I want to help you make progress, year after year, for as long as you want to play.

Philosophy

To be a better athlete requires more strength, more power, more speed, better in-game conditioning, higher quality technical practice, and incredible desire to excel.

I specialize in helping real-world athletes – adults with full-time professions, college students in club sports, and college-bound high school athletes – balance maximize their speed & strength gains in minimal training time and prevent injuries.

ATX Speed and Strength is NOT a trendy, flashy, “sport specific” training academy. ATX Speed and Strength is athlete-proven, science-backed strength training and speed development from a competitive athlete and professional coach. Our approach to training has worked for Texas Showdown, Cosa Nostra, Texas Melee, St. Olaf Vortex, Austin Sol, the German women’s National Beach Team, and nearly fifty other individual club and semi-professional ultimate players around the world.

Our work together will be gritty and simple. It will work for you.

I understand your situation because I live it. In both track and field and Olympic Weightlifting, I continue to make improvements in competition despite the demands of work and family.
